I Want More Friday Nights Like This

felt so deprived of fun after last night. it's been ages since i actually went out like this/that. trinity was the most slack year since i came to melbourne. somehow yesternight made me recalled those days.

went out for japanese dinner with charlene, merrie and rachel. was craving for sashimi very badly throughout the week. rachel then googled, and we found kuni's, which was located on little bourke street. very classy and expensive. over-priced i feel. 28 bucks for pathetic 8 mini slices of sashimi. sigh, very disappointed.
as we were so not full. we had to have desserts. chose max brenner over greeco's cheesecake. anyways, we ordered a lot (as you can see). rachel and i had an exploding chocolate shot each, and we shared a strawberry, oreo, chocolate and whipped cream crepe. very good. we both ate too fast and much, till we were feeling very terrible. haha! had to rest awhile before leaving...
we (plus lishen) then went to WORKSHOP located on elizabeth street. an old workshop converted into a bar. very nice from the outside, very dodgy from the inside!!! was kind of scared when we first entered. felt quite weird as we were the only asians in the bar. anyways, we had five different cocktails, all very nice, except for one. have no idea why guys always volunteer to take pictures? a way to get close? haha.

thereafter, rachel went to club while we went to play pool. had so much fun man. really miss playing pool in melbourne. i want a teacher/coach. got home quite late, but didn't feel tired at all. wanted to cab down to join rachel, but no i didn't.

3D Ray-Bans!

went out with the usual clique on a friday night. it was planned way in advance that we'll have dinner at chogao followed by alice in wonderland movie in 3D. plan was carried out successfully!
chogao was so packed compared to the last time charlene, merrie and i went. so packed with people drinking, everyone was so busy. despite the crowded atmosphere, we four had fun. the food was still as awesome, and this time we tried two of their desserts- fried bananas & chocolate, peanut, banana asian pancake. shit, this is making me so hungry. luckily, cindy and merrie are on the way back from city with my food.
made our way to the movie theatre. we were there early, so we started picture spamming (more are up on facebook). everyone was looking, cause it was just us snapping away. can't blame us you know, the 3D glasses are so cool. we had to pay a buck for each, since the movie people felt that it is more hygienic that way, but it's worth it.
yeah, the picture spamming did not stop despite entering the theatre. we were bored, and it was so much fun. yes, we definitely irritated the asian couple sitting behind us. hahahahaha!
well, alice in wonderland was so-so for me. finally got to know the exact storyline, never knew why i didn't have the book when i was a kid. the queen of hearts is damn funny, apparently she also acted in harry potter, looked so different. the costume and make-up were good. didn't like the main actress though, not pretty at all!

have been studying damn hardcore-ly the past few days, despite being very sick. finally got both assignments done, and i'll aim to finish lectures & tutorials by friday. weekends will be no work for me at all. saturday going shopping at doncaster with the girls and sunday, no plans yet. oh, and i need to find a physiotherapist! :(

Rest In Peace

my grandma passed away last friday morning. her funeral has been held for 5 days, and she was cremated today. i really wish i could be there to see her for the last time. mummy did ask me to go back but i had a lot of assignments to do. i wanted to complete everything during the weekend, and go back on monday, but my parents said no point in coming back for 2 days only. mummy asked me not to worry, said that grandma will understand and that she will pray on my behalf.

her death to us wasn’t sudden. her health has been deteriorating since chinese new year. it was so bad that she had to be hospitalized on the day i left for melbourne. during her stay there they discovered that her lungs were infected. tubes were inserted in her body, from the nose and the mouth. i wasn’t there to see, but mummy said that she was really pitiful. she was in ICU for almost 10 days, and passed away at 4.18 am.

the strange thing was how i got to know about her death. i don’t know why, but i woke up exceptionally early on friday without any alarm clock. i could see the red light flashing on my BB. didn't bother looking as i knew its some random tweets. but i kept looking at my phone as i had this strange feeling that maybe something happened to grandma. all of a sudden my phone rang but i accidentally pressed the disconnect button. i looked through all my messages, but none was regarding grandma, so i told myself to go back to sleep. but, i couldn’t and didn’t felt at ease. so i sms-ed my mum, and she immediately replied “grandma just passed away 4.18am, i can’t get to you, maybe pa called.”

i have been calling back the past few days, just to check if things in JB are going well. mummy told me that grandma’s funeral was very grand. much bigger than my grandpa’s one, which was 9 years back. mummy said that there were 100 over flowers sent, 2 banners of my grandma and her family, and on their way to the cemetery, policemen were clearing the roads just for them. reason being, my first uncle is the president of the chinese association for JB.

glad that she had a nice and grand sent off.
my only regret is not giving her a kiss.

Melbourne Thus Far

hello once again, i'm finally back to this page after so many days. reason being, i was occupied with so many things in melbourne...

first meal in melbourne
touched down and i immediately went for lunch with my cousin at ying tai on lygon. my all time favourite asian restaurant in melbourne. spent that day running errands, cleaning up my new house, going to the bank, etc. after one tiring day of work, i went for dinner with rachel & mum for awesome japanese meal, raw sashimi. : )

getting into place
the next day, merrie, cindy and boyfriend arrived. morning was just spent moving my stuff from boyfriend's place to my house, afternoon was spent unpacking and night was just more unpacking. called the movers though, 50 bucks an hour, nice and cheap!
went to ikea with merrie to buy stuff for our house early one morning. the trip there was almost two hours, because we kept missing trams. wasn't an easy trip back though, i was struggling. but after much buying & shifting, i've finally got my room settled. it's red/pink, i love it. :) pictures of it will be up soon...

like finally
and, i finally got my hands on blackberry 9700! pretty isn't it? iphone is still with me, decided not to sell it. anyways, i'm loving bbm, twitter & facebook. with such awesome applications, i guess i won't be blogging often. do checkout my facebook mobile uploads and twitts instead.

cute little things
little cupcakes craving settled at degraves with cindy and rachel one afternoon. i had freddos and max brenner's too. took away an exploding chocolate shot and bought 2 tubs of ice cream yesterday. happy & fat me. :)

korean barbecue
had korean bbq with kim seng, merrie and cindy one night near victoria market. haven't been to korea before, so i still feel that melbourne has the best korean bbq. wanted to go to the previous restaurant we went to, but it was full. luckily the food that night was good too. :)

expensive 2 hours
caught two movies so far and both were so good. watched shutter island with boyfriend and dear john with merrie and cindy. shutter island was such a good thriller, the twist was totally awesome. leonardo dicaprio is such a good actor, love him. everyone should watch it despite it being scary. no ghosts at all. dear john was another of those sad/touching love stories. cried the most in this film compared to a walk to remember, notebook, and if only. the ending wasn't that great though, should have been better. by the way, rachel told me that the words "Dear John" is used when breaking up with your boyfriend, and the words "Dear Jane" is used when breaking up with your girlfriend. don't know how true is that, but cool fact.

ice cubes falling from the sky
the hail that messed everything up. we were shopping at myers, and just as we were about to exit, it started pouring crazily. boyfriend called me all of a sudden, and told me that it was hail and not rain. looked out, and we were shocked. saw people taking pictures, cars stopping under the shelter and large ice cubes and leaves on the roads. apparently, train and tram services stopped, moomba was flushed out, cars were dented and a roof actually collapsed.

not much fun
lectures has started last week, and tutorials this week. i really hope i make new friends. well, in week one, i already have 2 assignments released and i'm struggling with business finance. help.
