yesterday was the once in awhile gathering with the whole big gang (not everyone was present though). change of plans from west coast park to cheryl's at woodlands. it was potluck, and everyone contributed a dish. wide variety of food, from tom yum noodles to ice cream.
after filling our stomachs, we changed the living room into a gambling den! honestly, we didn't purposely meet up to gamble. it was suppose to be a chit-chat cum eating outing. but, we ended up playing 4 hours of blackjack- i call it fate. why? because just before leaving my house, i saw a pack of cards on the dinning table, and decided to bring it along with me!
as usual, everyone was being so funny (& superstitious). some held on to their so called "lucky" doughnuts, some kept rubbing their fingers against the bottle of drink, some called their boyfriends for help, some held on so tight to their money (me), some even formed their lucky trio (me, warren and yongbin), and everyone kept changing places to try a change of luck! and after doing all that nonsense for 4 hours, i only won 1 buck! how pathetic.
but it's all worth it! we gambled not for the sake of money, but for fun, laughter, peace and joy! :) so many of us didn't want to stop playing, but others had something on the next morning. so, to finish off the whole gambling session, there was a winner take all showdown between yongbin and cixian, they each had to fork out 10 dollars. why is it just the two of them? well, they volunteered themselves, and too bad for cixian, she lost!
