1st Blue Box

never in my past 20 years on this planet did i ever expect that i will get a blue box this way. not the typical way that every girl would receive one. but still, it's meaningful.

friendship bands, that's what we call it. from the old school coloured strings to the expensive solid silver ones. see how we are not so easily contented as we grow in age. sad but true.

yes, "the other half" is cindy phua. funny how we made similar statements along the line of, "i can't believe i'm getting my first blue box with you and not from my boyfriend", at the same time, in the store. we are planning to add a charm to our bracelets every year. a gift to her, and a gift from her.

Shopping in the Citi

i love spontaneous shopping trips where i come back full handed. woke up late this morning, due to the great clubbing session at rebel yesternight. had this strong urge to shop, and pulled mummy to town with me right after our lunch at home.

my first ever branded bag, LV's Neverfull. this has got to be one of my most random buys ever. i had totally no intentions of buying it until this afternoon, where my mum and i decided to check out a bag she has been eyeing on for quite some time. ironically, i got this (partly due to mum's words), while she left the shop empty handed.

i have always wanted to get myself something using my first pay, for memory sake. wanted to get a light pink salvatore ferragamo wallet since december. but today, i figured that a prada wallet, or topping up a few more hundred to get a bag would have been better spent. all's good.

how i wish i have a boyfriend to buy this wallet for. haha! anyways, this BALLY wallet is for my dad, the guy that i will always love the most. it is a gift to him to express my 1/infinity gratefulness to have him as a father. i really hope he likes it.

my past 2 months in Citi was definitely well spent. not only did i meet so many people, learn so much, and have great fun, but i have also earned the money to spend on such wants.

it was really rewarding.

Little Satisfactions

discovered this place called trotters on lygon very recently. went there for breakfast twice, and i really enjoyed the food there. wanted to go to cumulus inc with rachel last monday, but we both couldn't wake up early enough to travel to flinders lane. hence, lygon.

french toast with bananas and nutella, crepes with lemon, maple and jam, and eggs benedict. i just love eating, and weight doesn't really prevent me from gobbling such great food down. of course, i have to make sure that my weight's healthy.

funny how the photos from my bb camera looks better than my canon camera. oh wells, guess its time to change the old. & that's the first thing i'll be buying when i reach singapore!

Little Touches

i'm back from my first IFA tutorial for the semester. while waiting for jonny to come and accompany me to walk along lygon street, i shall share a few pictures of the little changes i did to my room before school started last week.

Who Loves Sundays?

well, i do! :) my family and i went out for our usual shabu shabu at the shopping center beside centrepoint. we have been that restaurant's loyal fans for a whole 4 years. really, its the best shabu shabu i've ever in my entire life, and we never get sick of it. today's bill was up to 500 bucks, cause we ordered 7 portions of australian wagyu beef (instead of the normal ones), and 2 portions of pork. one portion was rather little, cheat our money man. needless to say, they definitely tasted much better than the normal ones.

thereafter, the rest went back home while i shopped with mummy at orchard. first, we went to paragon to shop for a gift for my mum's friend. went to gucci, salvatore ferragamo, jimmy choo, aigner, longchamp, but didn't find anything suitable. thank god for prada, we found the perfect gift- a prada wallet. so nice, i love it so much, wonder when will i be able to own one myself. anyways, saw this very pretty rich indo-chinese buying a birkin-like prada bag. she bought it real quick, as if it costs so little. really find it so ironic that 2 very extreme class of people can exist in a third world country. i guess that's one of the features of such countries.

best three buys for the day is- new sunglasses from evita peroni, bag from charles and keith and the big taboo game! needed new shades very urgently cause mine broke in taiwan, and the optician (whom i visited yesterday) told me that my eyes are very dense due to strong UV rays, need to protect them! never really fancy charles and keith's bags, but mummy spotted this one and i like it at first sight. it was the last piece and i could see 2 ladies eye-ing for it, so i asked my mum not to let it go! they kept following me (or rather, the bag), but i didn't give them any chance to get near it, and immediately paid for it! damn happy. :) oh, and i saw this DKNY bag that i really like. planning to get it for campus use instead of using my ralph lauren. :( ralph lauren is still in good condition and i still love it, but i want a change. so prolly going to get the DKNY one soon.

brother and sisters have always enjoyed the game, but we didn't really want to get it cause everyone around us have it. so last tuesday, when i was out with jonny i saw this board game! it's basically a revised version of the usual version. 3 extra ways to play the game, which are: using as little words as possible, drawing it, and bending and twisting bob (that little purple creature). so i pulled my mum to get it for us today, and i was so shocked to know that the price is 90 bucks. it's been so long since i last purchased one that i forgot how expensive board games are. my siblings and i have always love board games, it's our childhood thing. never thrown away any, so now our house is filled with them. oh, and we're playing our new game tonight. :)

2012?

i have always love europe since i was a kid, age 10. it's been 9 years since i have last been there, and i have always been wanting to go back! but somehow, my family have been traveling to the states after europe's trip. i'm not complaining though, i like US too.

since i'll be graduating at 20, and i don't really like the idea of doing honors in melbourne or entering the workforce at 21 (unless a very good job offer awaits me), i have decided to study in europe. last night, mummy called and told her of my plans. she was very supportive and said i can do whatever i want. :) she asked why europe and not the states, and i said, cause i want to tour europe!

shall find out more about study opportunities in probably london or paris this july, i really really want to study there. can't imagine how much more i'll love europe especially when i'm there at 21. :)

okay, this post was just a mini break for me. need to get back to studying. exams are in less than 2 weeks. there's so much studying to do. especially, cost management. no wait, everything!

Melbourne Thus Far

hello once again, i'm finally back to this page after so many days. reason being, i was occupied with so many things in melbourne...

first meal in melbourne

touched down and i immediately went for lunch with my cousin at ying tai on lygon. my all time favourite asian restaurant in melbourne. spent that day running errands, cleaning up my new house, going to the bank, etc. after one tiring day of work, i went for dinner with rachel & mum for awesome japanese meal, raw sashimi. : )

getting into place

the next day, merrie, cindy and boyfriend arrived. morning was just spent moving my stuff from boyfriend's place to my house, afternoon was spent unpacking and night was just more unpacking. called the movers though, 50 bucks an hour, nice and cheap!

went to ikea with merrie to buy stuff for our house early one morning. the trip there was almost two hours, because we kept missing trams. wasn't an easy trip back though, i was struggling. but after much buying & shifting, i've finally got my room settled. it's red/pink, i love it. :) pictures of it will be up soon...

and, i finally got my hands on blackberry 9700! pretty isn't it? iphone is still with me, decided not to sell it. anyways, i'm loving bbm, twitter & facebook. with such awesome applications, i guess i won't be blogging often. do checkout my facebook mobile uploads and twitts instead.

cute little things

little cupcakes craving settled at degraves with cindy and rachel one afternoon. i had freddos and max brenner's too. took away an exploding chocolate shot and bought 2 tubs of ice cream yesterday. happy & fat me. :)

korean barbecue

had korean bbq with kim seng, merrie and cindy one night near victoria market. haven't been to korea before, so i still feel that melbourne has the best korean bbq. wanted to go to the previous restaurant we went to, but it was full. luckily the food that night was good too. :)

expensive 2 hours

caught two movies so far and both were so good. watched shutter island with boyfriend and dear john with merrie and cindy. shutter island was such a good thriller, the twist was totally awesome. leonardo dicaprio is such a good actor, love him. everyone should watch it despite it being scary. no ghosts at all. dear john was another of those sad/touching love stories. cried the most in this film compared to a walk to remember, notebook, and if only. the ending wasn't that great though, should have been better. by the way, rachel told me that the words "Dear John" is used when breaking up with your boyfriend, and the words "Dear Jane" is used when breaking up with your girlfriend. don't know how true is that, but cool fact.

ice cubes falling from the sky

the hail that messed everything up. we were shopping at myers, and just as we were about to exit, it started pouring crazily. boyfriend called me all of a sudden, and told me that it was hail and not rain. looked out, and we were shocked. saw people taking pictures, cars stopping under the shelter and large ice cubes and leaves on the roads. apparently, train and tram services stopped, moomba was flushed out, cars were dented and a roof actually collapsed.

not much fun

lectures has started last week, and tutorials this week. i really hope i make new friends. well, in week one, i already have 2 assignments released and i'm struggling with business finance. help.

Awesome Shopping Trip

spent the entire day in orchard today. first half was spent with mummy and second half was spent with cindy, merrie and ann. :)

first was physiotherapy, second was shopping at centre point, third was dim sum at takashimaya's crystal jade, and last was shopping at wisma and ion. we ordered so much for dim sum that mummy had to doggy pack it back home. i just had to settle my cravings for dim sum before i fly back to melbourne. crystal jade beats shark fin's house hands down.

later, yongbin accompained me at ion (while he had to work in takashimaya) before the arrival of the three girls. continued shopping non-stop till we headed back home. had to force myself to leave early as i couldn't continue owing cindy phua more. shopping with them was unintended, hence the little cash i brought.

of all the stuff i got for myself today, i love this three the most. 1. my new mini water bottle that mummy asked me to get, that would hopefully encourage me to bring water to school as it's light. 2. my first ever prints organiser. i know right... it's my first! 3. DKNY wallet. my very belated birthday present that i chose myself given by my mum. she couldn't think of what to get for me earlier, so instead she gave me a red packet. :)

Feeling Good

had my first driving lesson yesterday, and it was so scary, fun, and tiring! :) after yesterday i realised how difficult driving was, it's not as easy as it seems. i think it's partly because i'm taking manual, as my main problem was having to step on the clutch pedal. accelerating was quite tough too, especially when i have to step on the pedal gradually and slowly.

my instructor was nice and friendly. felt so paiseh when i braked too quickly or when the engine stopped. thought he would be pissed or irritated after going through it for like more than 3 times, but no, he just kept laughing. :) good, i need patient instructors... can't wait for sunday's lesson, i love stirring the wheel!

thereafter, i met up with yongbin, got to town, and cheryl joined us a hour later. yongbin was so nice and helpful to carry our shopping bags and wait for us while we were trying clothes. cheryl and i said that we're training him for his next girlfriend, haha! thank you.

the best buy of yesterday was... my macbook pro red leather cover! i have been wanting it for the longest time (since i got my macbook). after a month's decision, i finally decided to pay 99 bucks for it! i know it's over-priced, but it's really very pretty. anyways, i think that my macbook deserves a good cover too. :)

we had dinner at a new ramen stall at the basement of takashimaya (it replaced pepper lunch). the food was very good, i want to go back again. the menu looks very tempting, we felt like trying everything, but had no stomachs to fill. spent 2 hours talking, or should i say laughing? yongbin never fails to make us laugh, no matter how boring the topic is.

Snap Snap!

i have been looking for a new camera recently. something in the semi-pro range, between a compact and a DSLR. i'm a person that can't leave the house without a camera. i want to use the camera to snap pretty pictures of my life. my current camera is really good and working well, but i want a better one to take better photos. however, the thought of having to carry a DSLR around with me just puts me off, eventually, it'll just sit at home. i don't mean i dislike DSLR, in fact i love it. i'll still try to own one next time- when i start to travel a lot! :)

i was searching the web for semi-pro cameras, and initially i was thinking of cannon G11. it takes really good photos, but i didn't really like it at first sight, because it was ugly. couldn't bear to part with 800 bucks just to get that thing when i didn't love it.

i wanted to give up the thought of getting a new one, until i saw Leica D-LUX 4! i fell in love with it at first sight. i immediately search the web to find out more about this camera, and every single detail that i learnt about it makes me want to get my hands on it quicker! except for one, the price. it costs approximately 1300 singapore dollars. it's so expensive, i can totally get a good DSLR with that money.

but, because i love it too much... i've decided to save up for it! :)

anyways, today was spent with judith. :) the last time we saw each other was last year, we had plenty to catch up on, and it was fun. we had lunch at indochine in wisma, and tea break at tully's coffee in orchard central. it was my first time at orchard central, the building structure is so weird! but i thought that the shops are different from the other shopping centres. at least, they are not massively repeated.

judith and i went into one of the shops selling different types of film cameras. so nice, we like! and after listening to the sales person's explanation regarding each type of camera, both of us wanted to buy the Golden Half, it costs 90 bucks. it's really cute, and i like the fact that 2 pictures are squeezed onto 1. judith says she's going back soon to get it, but i'll just wait (i don't know for what).

well, the sudden urge to buy 2 cameras doesn't mean i'm trying to get into the whole photography kind of hobby. definitely, no! Leica D-LUX 4 is just to take nicer/prettier photos (but not to the photographer-type of extent) and Golden Half is just for the fun of it! :)
